First, we got a tour of the Inn.
Where the kids would have been allowed to play indoors.
Then we made part of our lunch. Butter with an old fashioned churn. (I must admit I like my blender better - takes about 1 minute to get the butter out that way!)
The kids got to chop veggies too.
There's our soup on the old fashioned wood stove. She had the boys (and my girls wanted to too) get wood from the woodshed and bring it back to the wood box. A common chore back then.
We'll get to have the soup and butter with our picnic lunch after "school." I had brought 6 loaves of bread that I made the day before to share, but I didn't want them to get hot in the van so I put them in the shade where the picnic tables were. I didn't think about little friends finding it, but a squirrel had started nibbling on one of the loaves after eating through the plastic bag! Fortunately the guy from the town hall saw it and rescued the rest of the bread! We just cut off the contaminated part and moved on with life and lunch! :-)
But first, we go to the School House >>
